Wix 5:
It was PBs all round for Witham RC at yesterday's Wix 5 and a first prize for one of the juniors! Tom Beard may not be as quick as the fastest seniors (yet!) but he covered the 5-mile Wix course in a PB of 31:43 and picked up first prize in the M15 - 17 age category.

Jon Booty was the fastest Witham runner on the day, and claimed a new PB as he finished in seventh place in 28 minutes. Alan Reade was our next runner home in 29:32, with James Farren (30:16 PB) finishing just in front of a lightly raced Kev Harper (30:19) and then Leo Cole (30:27).

Marc Underdown (32:20), Lee Pembroke (34:35), Seb Gwyn-Williams (35:10) and James Montgomery (36:23) all recorded new PBs on a course known to be good and fast. Ian Stobirski (36:31), Wayne Hazell (36:45) and Mick Poulter (36:57) all seemed to arrive in close order, with David Jobling (37:44), John Kerr (38:25) and Dave Payne (40:43) not too far adrift. Stewart Waller finished in 44:07 and Sam Orunwuyi, in his first 5-mile race, ran 46:34.

Jane Noble (46:52) was Witham's first lady over the finish line, while Tracey Denby ran another PB when she crossed the line in 46:57. Claire Blake also recorded a new PB of 53:29, finishing a few minutes in front of Lynne Lewis (57:20) who only started running in the summer with the club's 'New to Running group'.

Harwich Discovery 10K:
Witham RC's Adam Hocken and Mick Poulter both ran the Harwich Discovery 10K on Saturday in near perfect conditions. Adam finished in 46:16 and Mick (who also ran the Wix 5 the following day) finished in 46:26.

Cardiff Half Marathon:
There were some top names out at Sunday's Cardiff Half Marathon (Kenyan Edwin Kiptoo won the race) so Witham RC’s Naomi Emerick and Lynne Williams were in good company. The field must have been enormous as it took Lynne and Naomi 17 minutes to get over the start line! Lynne reached the finish first in 2:21:14 and Naomi finished in 2:33:35.
